What to expect
Portraits01

What to expect I find inspiration in people and the world around us and I love documenting what I see, and I am lucky enough to work in a profession that allows me to indulge my passion.

It matters to me to build a relationship with you, and taking the time to get to know you creates trust between us so that you can feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera.  This will allow me to capture your real emotions giving you portraits that truly reflect your individual personality.

I love to work outdoors using natural light and this is reflected in my style that is both contemporary and fresh, and I will work closely with you to source the right location to best suit your needs so that your lifestyle shoot is relaxed and enjoyable.  We can chat on the phone to decide on location whether it be your home, your garden, a local park, fields, woods, or the beach.

My studio has an informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere and my style is natural and modern.  When you arrive we can discuss together any ideas you may have for the session.  Good portrait photography shouldn’t be hurried so the session will take two to three hours.

Choosing your clothing and props is important to create beautiful stylised portraits.  Please give careful thought to what you are planning to wear, avoid logos, stripes, distracting patterns or clashing colour combinations.  Give thought to textured clothing for autumn and winter such as sweaters and cords.  For spring and summer girls look great in little slip dresses and boys in denim jeans with T-shirts or shirts, linen looks good.  Avoid flip flops, bare feet are always preferred in the studio.  Think about bringing two to three changes of clothing, hats, scarves, wellies, umbrellas, dressing up outfits for children, and favourite toys all make great props.

Newborn babies are best photographed during the first ten days, as most babies during this time have that newborn look and are at the sleepiest phase.  This session can be held either in the comfort of your own home or in the studio and will take two to three hours, this is to allow for multiple clothing changes and breaks.  I believe capturing those special emotions within the first few days is important as you will cherish them forever.  If you are thinking of having a newborn shoot, please contact me around three months before your due date to book a session.

Please take some time to consider the type of shoot you would prefer, whether it is in your own home, on location, or in the studio.

I am very passionate about what I do, it is always rewarding to creatively document portraits and give images to you to treasure forever.

Testimonials

“I have never been particularly keen on having my photograph taken but you made the whole process easy and enjoyable.  You put us all at our ease and this ensured the photographs were superb and reflected our relaxed selves.  My son really enjoyed the whole experience, you created some great poses which allowed him to relax and resulted in some great photographs – he can’t wait to go back for more!”

Sue & family, Leighton Buzzard

“Your patience may have been tested when taking photos of two busy and a little tired 20 month old girls and a 5 year old boy, but it did not show.  Your energy level, encouragement and innovative ideas did not wane.  We were put at ease very quickly and much fun was had by all.”

Caroline & Martin, London

“Trying to ‘look cool’ and ‘pretending’ to play your instrument is not as easy as it sounds.  Musicians tend to view photo shoots as a necessary evil and therefore go into them expecting a painful experience.  However, as someone who’s taken part in many band shoots, I have to say this really was completely different.  You were quick to put us at ease, we rarely felt awkward in front of the camera and so before long we were actually enjoying ourselves.  All we brought with us were a few basic ideas but from there you creatively adapted the compositions and did an amazing job of capturing the collective character of the band.  The resulting images gave us exactly what we wanted but with originality that totally exceeded our expectations.”

Loz Jones & Band, Luton

Deborah, Milton Keynes

“I was delighted with our new family photos.  You captured our children perfectly and the only problem was choosing which to order! We have had loads of compliments on the photos and I adore them.  You were really easy to work with and helpful when it came to deciding on frames and finishes for the photos.  I’d thoroughly recommend her and will be going back in a year or so when the kids are bigger!”

Jane & family, Leighton Buzzard

“You have been taking pictures of my five year old daughter, Adina, since she was born.  For every stage of her life and your pictures have always captured her true character.  You know how to make her comfortable and relaxed.  The quality of your images are fantastic, and thanks to you Adina now has a photo diary the envy of her friends.”

Pauline, Luton

“My son Jacob is very shy and he was quite reticent about doing a photo shoot.  You worked to establish a rapport with him and soon got him feeling relaxed and happy.  We are really pleased with our photos,  they are really different to the standard family portraits and everyone who has seen them adores them!  Thank you for your professionalism and our fabulous photos.  We had a great time.”

Anita & Jacob, London
