Last month, I had the absolute pleasure of taking professional headshots for Grant Colyer, who is extremely gifted and the most down to earth chap you could meet. Grant is known in the industry as “Mr Validator” and is considered to be one of the best Celebrity Mediums in the UK.
Working as a Universal Psychic Medium, Grant was exclusively invited to investigate the X Factor House in October 2014 by Simon Cowell. Grant also specialises in Trance Medium, Clairvoyant, and Tarot Reader, Ghost Investigations, Presenting and hosting radio shows as well as appearing on television, in particular on BCC, CNN, Felixstowe TV, the “Becoming Psychic” You Tube Channel and offering live stage performances.
I was delighted to work with Grant to create some images for him, during which he was kind enough to make time from his busy schedule to answer a few questions.
Enjoy reading Grant’s answers below.
Tell me in 50 words about your job?
My job of being the Psychic Medium is to Guide and give warmth to people in need, that may be in a private one to one session or in a demonstration. It is also to provide evidence that life continues after this one.
Which part of the job inspires you the most?
Well that easy to answer!! All of it, but what inspires me the most is the people you meet along the way, I have met some incredible energies doing this work.
What’s the most impressive feedback you’ve had from a client?
God there are so many to list, it has to be telling the lads from One Direction they would be as big as the Beatles – I think that tops it for me! I do get amazing feedback from clients on a daily basis.
Who do you admire the most?
My daughter Sacha is who I admire, this is a girl who lost her mother to cancer at 11 years old and still manages to smile every day through her own suffering.
Do you have a favourite quote?
Life comes and life goes but in the universe it always glows.
Do you have any current offers that you can extend to my readers?
I have an Easter special on my website to book a one hour reading with myself via telephone or skype.
If you are planning to update your business or personal headshots, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I really enjoy being a member of the Guild of Professional Photographers and decided this year to make time to enter my work for image of the month competition. I believe it has helped me to push myself more each time i have enter and really think about training my eye when creating beautiful imagery for clients.
In January, I entered this image from a family newborn shoot into the children and family lifestyle category and very pleased it won a bronze bar.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look 😉

Meet Helen Whelan (aged 39), who is a mum to Rosie aged 5, wife to Andy and business owner of Sweetness & Delight Wedding Cakes based in Bedford. Helen’s love of making cakes started as a child baking at home with her mum and in 2009 Sweetness & Delight was born and since then has gone from strength to strength achieving recognition and praise from others within the wedding industry. She works full time from her home, in her purpose built cake kitchen designing and creating beautiful wedding cakes.
I met Helen about 5 years ago as we both work in wedding industry and also Helen is one of my returning clients, previously I created her imagery for her commercial business together with her profile head shots. She also appreciates and understand the value that family portraits are priceless!
In August it was Rosie’s 5th birthday and Helen booked me for a mother and daughter photo shoot. She asked me to create both natural and stylised photographs and I suggested some ideas and looks so they could bring a few outfits on the day. So after a few hours of playing in the studio with hair and makeup, changing outfits – we all had lots of fun. Later Helen said Rosie really enjoyed being in front of my camera, she was so well behaved and followed every pose i asked her to do so I could capture her expressions, thus creating some timeless imagery. Rosie already wants to know when she can come again! Rosie is a such happy girl she told me she loves dancing, swimming and school (hopefully that will last for some years yet!).
A huge thank you to Jacqueline Egan, Make-up and Hair Artist and Owner of The Bridal Works based in Newport Pagnell who did an amazing hair and make-up for Helen and Rosie for this shoot. Jacqueline specialises in Bridal hair and makeup as well as bridal silk flowers and bouquets, and kindly helped me style this look!
So any brides and grooms getting married in 2016, I can highly recommend both wedding suppliers – to find out more and contact them at the following:

A few months ago I had the pleasure to photograph Rebecca Hanssen, aged 21 -working as an actress and model. She asked me to capture some imagery to update her portfolio for both acting and modelling as she has signed a contract with Y2K Promotions Modelling Agency working with one of the high street retailers.
Enjoy looking at a few of the shots I have taken for Rebecca and she shared some kind words about her experience of the shoot:
“I wanted to book Ravinder as I love her work and knew she would be the perfect photographer to help me achieve the sophisticated look I desired. Most people say I look younger than my age which, as an actress, can sometimes be very beneficial. However, I wanted to create a portfolio which would showed my mature side and after seeing the beauty portraits she had done for other clients, Ravinder was the obvious choice.
I felt completely at ease working with Ravinder, if not a little stiff afterwards from some of the positions I had to hold. Ravinder would position every inch of my body down to the last finger tip and, at times, I would feel a little ridiculous, until I saw the finished pictures which look completely flawless and effortless. This woman knows exactly what she’s talking about!
This time around I did my own hair and makeup but for my next shoot (as I will definitely be booking Ravinder again) I think I will hire a makeup artist and have the full pampered experience!
I loved my finished imagery as Ravinder managed to capture exactly what I wanted; the sophisticated, mature and beautiful version of me which people tend not to notice when they see my baby face. ”
Thank you Rebecca!

Meet Kirsty, aged 38, business owner of Fertile Future Hypnobirthing, also a mum of three and wife to Neil.
I met Kirsty a few years ago through a mutual friend and we have been good friends ever since. I was delighted when she booked a shoot with me to create portraits that give a beauty and magazine style look and feel. If you know Kirsty, she is one of those incredible super women, very genuine and kind, she always manages to juggle being a mum to three energetic children with balancing her hectic work schedule running Fertile Future Hypnobirthing. On top of all that, for seven years now she is the longest established practitioner in Milton Keynes, Brackley, Bicester, Towcester and Buckingham. She teaches The Wise Hippo Birthing Method.
I would love to share with you a little more about this beautiful and amazing women and her business. I asked Kirsty to tell us her story:
“I used the method for my son Freddie, and I went from a scheduled C section to planning a home birth. It changed my view of birth totally, and I was so amazed by the results, I trained to teach it! I am passionate about my work, empowering women and their partners to trust in the birthing process and ensure their birth experience remains positive, no matter what course it takes. I see them go from uncertain and afraid of the process, to becoming excited and optimistic about what lies ahead. Full of confidence and well informed, they often report back on their beautiful calm births and I always well up reading their fabulous stories.”
If you want to prepare yourself and your partner mentally, physically and emotionally for birth contact Kirsty directly:
